My mother was a designer and maker of garments for most of the over eight decades of her life.
She used to say that she didn’t go to church but that she was a very God-fearing woman. I am always humbled when people who knew her say that I resemble her in many ways.
As I work at my craft I am constantly reminded that all of us are guided by a higher power rather than by a predetermined set of goals.
My work is a reflection of all my life’s experiences, of how I see the world, how I feel about the environment, the birds and the flowers, our carnival and its music, international politics, poverty, homelessness, and injustice
